CANON: Samurai Warriors 4-II
NAME: Takakage Kobayakawa
AGE: Approximately late twenties
CANON: Samurai Warriors 4-II
CANON HISTORY: Takakage's wiki
CANON PERSONALITY: Takakage can be seen as a model intellectual. Wise, perceptive and sharp, he is one of the Sengoku era's most brilliant strategists and is known to be such by his rivals. To his allies, he is friendly, polite, humble and a dependable figure. In battles, he is the type who serves as the backbone to the army, coming up with strategies and tactics to outsmart foes. By leading his allies to victory, he aims to create a world of peace.
Takakage's father, Mouri Motonari, can be said to be the individual who has the most influence on him. Through his teachings, Takakage has been shaped into the curious and sharp-witted individual that he is. The most famous, the Lesson of Three Arrows, taught him about the importance of cooperation and teamwork with the like-hearted. Such is reflected as he becomes the intellectual and emotional support to his elder brothers, Takamoto and Motoharu. In turn, he also acts as a source of support to his father's campaign to unite the Chugoku region and bring peace. Most importantly, Takakage is also 'the heart' to his father, especially when Motonari feels guilt over his more morally-questionable strategies, and grief when he had to slay his friend Hirokane who sided with an enemy daimyo. He reminds his father that there can be more hopeful ways of life, such as like-minded individuals not necessarily needing to be opponents or whether there are tactics that can avoid the waste of innocent lives.
However, that is not to say that Takakage will go easy on his opponents, or be a pushover. As seen with the Mouri clan's war against Oda Nobunaga, he actively denounces Nobunaga's brutal ways and is determined to stop him. Trickery too is something he will use when needed, such as to test others. There is a distinction when it comes to sacrificing others for the sake of one's plans, and using deception as part of one's plans, and Takakage is the type that would only use the latter. What distinguishes him is not only his mind, but his benevolence and humility as well. When given a chances at power and glory, be it the opportunity to expand Mouri lands or a chance at being promoted to a daimyo himself, he chooses to sacrifice those for the sake of his lord Terumoto (and his nephew) and to ensure a more peaceful outcome.
In turn, reading is one of his most devoted hobbies, so much that it doesn't seem to be a hobby to him as it is a necessity like food or water. Without words to read, Takakage can be seen relapsing painfully and in his own words, could literally have died. Yet, it is not the quality of writing that he is drawn to, rather the sheer quantity of words. This itself is a result of his upbringing, being raised on Motonari's overly verbose writing that would repulse anyone but them. Most of the time, he can be seen engrossed in reading to the point of being able to ignore most people.
Interacting with others can be seen as one of Takakage's weaknesses, though not obvious at first glance. He is able to make conversation through scholarly discussion, or break the ice with riddles. The latter is another hobby of his, as they stimulate thinking outside the box. Yet, he finds it difficult to talk about himself when asked about his personality, despite being able to describe anything else accurately. It is this social awkwardness that usually prevents him from being active when it comes to interacting with others.
Despite Takakage's weak social skills, it is with fellow intellectuals that he is able to form deep bonds with. Such include Takenaka Hanbei, a Toyotomi strategist, and one of his greatest friends, Kuroda Kanbei especially. As a fellow strategist, he too understands the needs for meticulous thinking and considerations that are needed to be made to unite the land for the sake of peace. Additionally, both of them are able to understand each other's intentions for what needs to be done in wars and governance, and share the same spirit of ensuring that needless lives are not lost. Even though they were on opposing sides prior to Oda Nobunaga's death, they share a mutual respect for each other as thinkers.
Being in the shadow of his father Motonari in turn created a lingering sense of insecurity within Takakage. His father is known, or rather despised as a god of strategy, a reputation that is created by the Mouri clan's opponents. Takakage credits his father for being the mind behind the plans, as well as the one who has to dirty his hands, while he himself is a hypocrite who claims to be helping but can only desperately try to do some good to make up for Motonari. In turn, there are times when he feels too cowardly or hesitant to take up action that would be of great good, but would threaten his relationships with others. For times like these, it is a friend's support that is needed to inspire him to break out of his insecurities, especially one like Kanbei's.
To sum it up, Takakage is a young man with a sharp mind but a warm and sincere heart. He is able to solve problems easily, be it a large-scale battle or predicting future outcomes, but has a more introverted side to himself that does not speak out much and has doubts on his own abilities. Yet, just like the lecture of the Three Arrows, with the combined wills and hearts of him and a few good friends, there is nothing that can stop them.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
As an experienced strategist, Takakage has refined analytical ability, is able to adapt to various situations, and come out with a formulated plan to solve problems. Such abilities include but is not limited to predicting the actions of others, making calculations and noting fine details.
In turn, he also possesses supernatural powers to a certain degree. It manifests through him as the manipulation of water, and pages within his book of strategies. Both can be channeled through a straight blade called a tsurugi, his weapon of choice. With enough accumulated musou energy, he can unleash devastating attacks.

PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Not much in terms of appearance, only he relies more on reading glasses.
AU NAME: Mori Takashi
AU AGE: 27
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Not much in terms of appearance, only he relies more on reading glasses.
AU HISTORY: • 28 years old, currently working as an assistant professor in law at Recollé University.
Takakage's feelings towards his father is not as much as inferiority, but more of wanting to be able to provide for him in his old age after being helpless while he was facing legal troubles. He also maintains in contact with his siblings, though work would stop him from being able to keep them in regular contact. In addition, he is more at ease with his own feelings and thoughts, with his modern nuclear family making it easier for him to be able to communicate with them, though his own personal insecurities and fears remain bottled up.
During his schooling years, most of his schoolmates tend to see him as an elite, model student above them. While he does get along with them due to his gentle nature, he finds it difficult to close the distance between them. Till graduation, most still place him on top of a pedestal, and thus making close friends is difficult for him. Yet, his own position as a child in a semi-prestigious family causes him to feel obliged to live up to the high standards that is set for him, even if it is himself who sets the bars. There is a fear of being a dead weight to the family in not being able to be an additional pillar of support, even while the rest of them do not actually extensively push him.
This is most obvious when at gatherings or being around his peers, where he tends to be a quiet listener rather than a mood-maker. He would be inclined to make sensible choices rather than 'live a little', like being the only sober man at the end of a drinking party so that at least someone can take the inebriated home. Others would remember him for being reserved, and at the very most being present to help out, but would never have 'fun stories' they could share about Takakage as compared to someone who would striptease after three drinks.
Yet, he is a good albeit strict teacher to his students, being always open to helping out and thinking of ways to convey ideas, much like a strategist from his original life. With more opportunities at social interaction as compared to the Warring States, he has more experience and is slightly more open to social interaction. Generally, he is most likely to say yes when asked out by a friend or anyone in particular. However, like in his original canon, a fellow like-minded friend is the key to opening this bookworm.
